With  great anticipation,  we look
forward  to putting the "NAMAHOE",
Kauai's voyaging canoe, into the
ocean soon, possibly by the  end  of  
summer 2008.

Most of her main components are
pretty much together, yet there is so
much left to do before she sails.  With
finances running low, we  find
another major stumbling block...
"HER SAILS!"

In between thoughts of ways to create
fundraisers, and just for fun, I
began outlining a sail.   What actually
started off as idle sketching began
to emerge as a beautiful voyaging
canoe, in almost  "perfect proportion."

When finished,  I asked a favorite uncle
of mine for a name.  He named her  
"PIILANI  PAU'OLE," after his mother,
who just happened to be
my great grandmother's best friend.  Oh
my goodness, I can just visualize
the   two of  them on this canoe......
somewhere......up there.....having a
blast!
